So, lots have happened since the first (and only) entry that I have posted.. We got a kitten!! And, we lost a kitten... Sorry, ljedi, for never responding.. I lose myself sometimes.. That is what comes of being a mom.. You can't be yourself sometimes... So, the eldest boy wanted a kitten.. Asked for it for months.. I finally talked the hubby into it, and N8 and Jase and I went to the pound and N8 picked out a kitten. I asked when I adopted the kitten, "Don't you think that she is too small to spay?" "Oh, No." replied the mujer working there (Like she cares). So, we bring home a kitten that the surgery sheet says weighed 1 pound 2 ounces before the surgery. She made it a few days. I bought her Kitten Milk Replacement at $8 a can and canned kitten food and tried very hard but she never bounced back. I woke up one morning to find her dead under the boys' bed. Shit. Lots of bawling and excess of emotion. Not one of my best days, but which are??

Hubby Man and I discussed, Kids and I discussed it, but we all agreed it was best to get another kitten.. Don't want the boys scarred for life, thinking that all baby cats are to be avoided because they DIE. Jason insisted on holding the baby kitten. The ironic thing is that the boys named her "Angel" the day we brought her home. Rang an ominous bell with me, but I did tell them that they could pick the name. Jason held poor Angel's body and then told me that we couldn't bury her, because her legs were sticking out..
Ay Chi Huahua.. How do you explain rigor mortis to a 6-year-old?? I assured him we would make a hole big enough for her.

So, on the 23rd of July we picked up our new kitten, 3-month-old calico we named Gwen. I was holding my breath, because Gwen had to live and restore faith in the world in my sons. We quarantined Gwen in the bedroom, gave her organic goat's milk (watered down) and Science Diet Canned Kitten Food. 2nd day with Gwen, she started sneezing. Jon immediately brought her to the vet, who prescribed eye drops and antibiotics and lots of lets-wait-and-see-what-happens. So, Gwen gets very, very sick with an upper respiratory infection. I spent most of the worst night for her up with Gwen, in a steamy bathroom with Vicks Baby Rub open to dissipate in the air and help her breathe.

Thanks be to Goodness, Gwen made it through her illness. Now, she is a terror, attacking all the unwary and wreaking havoc on the other animals. Just as she should be. Thank goodness!! There were a few days and nights there when she could barely breathe and we had to pour the milk down her throat via a syringe when I thought that we were going to lose a second kitten. I can't suck that bad, can I?

Okay.. I am worn clear through. I worked noon to midnight yesterday, and got up this morning when Gwen attacked me. I work the next three days, so will be going to bed very, very soon. Really.

Lost track with the world for a while there. Promise to try to do better. :-)

So, this is my first time.. Be gentle. I am just figuring out the basics, no where near understanding it all yet. I spent some time with an old friend this afternoon (first name of Jack, last name of Daniels), so may be slightly bleary. Quien sabe.
